Privacy Policy
Here Island (“the App”) is made by Locusable Studio (“we”, “us”). It is a free, open-source macOS app (GPL v3) that shows what’s playing in the Mac notch. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not use data for tracking. We do not sell personal data.
What we don’t collect
We do not operate analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services that receive your information. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing. We do not run a Locusable backend that stores what you listen to.
Data that stays on your Mac
The App reads Now Playing on this Mac so it can show the title, artist, artwork, and controls in the notch. That stays on your device.
Depending on which features you use, the App may ask for these system permissions. This data is processed on your Mac and is not sent to us:
- Apple Music — optional, to fetch animated artwork and to control playback via AppleScript
- Audio capture — optional, for the real-time waveform
- Screen recording — so the notch can be left out of screenshots, recordings, and screen sharing (it is not used to record your screen for us)
Preferences such as appearance and hide toggles are stored locally on your Mac.
Updates
The App can check for updates through Sparkle. That check contacts our GitHub release feed to see if a new version exists. We do not send Sparkle system profile information.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
